Arnold fitz Thedmar (1201-74), England. Alderman of London, representative of London’s German mercantile community, chirographer of the Jewish archae and keeper of the chest containing the city’s charters, is thought to be the author of the earliest of the London chronicles, the Latin Cronica maiorum et vicecomitum Londoniarum [Chronicle of the Mayors and Sheriffs of London]. This chronicle is in a unique manuscript known as the Liber de Antiquis Legibus, now in the Corporation of London Record Office. name
