The Annals of Southwark PrioryEncyclopedia of the Medieval Chronicle
2022
The annals of Southwark Priory are an anonymous Latin chronicle written at the Augustinian priory at Southwark, just outside of medieval London. The annals are preserved in two manuscripts: the earlier BL Cotton MS Faustina A viii (fols. 120v-146v) in which the annals begin at the Incarnation and continue to 1240, and the later Oxford, Bodleian Library MS. Rawlinson. B 177 (fols. 192r-286v), which agrees almost entirely with the Cotton MS to 1240 but has been extended to 1306 using other sources. You can read the full entry here |
