My passion for medieval history first developed as an undergraduate studying the period of Baronial Reform and Rebellion in England. My enthusiasm for the topic was such that I went on to complete a Ph.D in medieval history. Now I teach because I want to inspire students to learn in the same way that I was inspired. I especially enjoy teaching a variety of courses to diverse groups, and I am fortunate that I continue to learn from all of my students. docendo discimus.

HISTORY OF LONDON These classes cover 2,000 years of London’s history, from its foundation as a Roman civitas to its reconstruction following the Blitz, in which undergraduate students learn to appreciate the social, political, economic and environmental influences that have shaped the development of London over two millennia. MEDIEVAL HISTORY I teach broad British and European medieval history classes which cover a full thousand-year period of history, as well as more specific courses, such as on the Vikings. All of my courses are taught through both thematic and chronological study. LATIN My Latin students have ranged from absolute beginners taking their first steps in the language to advanced students reading original texts.
